A student reflection from a recent program in Puebla, Mexico:

Angeleena, San Jose, CA

“I cannot believe that our family visits are over. I don’t want
to leave. Renato is just amazing and so is his family. They are just so
welcoming and loving.  Like, we had family breakfast, lunch, and dinner together.
They also invited Mayra and I to their family parties, rosary, and they
even took us with them when they went out and voted. Our basketball
games were the best. Marisela and Rafael were amazing on the court. This
is definitely a bittersweet moment: bitter because our family visit has
come to an end, and sweet because I get to see how Santiago improved with his
English. That kid- what can I say?- he is always filled with so much
energy. Hopefully, before CLI’s English club we can help make some
more cob mix to make bricks for the new school building and for the
Mi Arbolito composting, dry latrine.  I can’t even imagine leaving Puebla on Thursday.
This place is amazing. I came to serve this community; but, in reality
there was already a community and I was welcomed into it with open arms.”
